Bernama quoted Rohaimi as saying that police had recorded statements from 36 people involved in organising and participating in the Himpunan Pemuda Islam Terengganu (Himpit) event in Setiu last Friday.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 4(1)(a) of the Sedition Act and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.
“We are waiting for instructions for further action,” he said.
Rohaimi said five police reports were lodged regarding the parade which was alleged to have disrupted public order and racial harmony.
The parade sparked controversy when participants marched with replica weapons such as swords and spears.
Religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar had said the warlike posturing could give a wrong impression of Islam, while home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the parade was inappropriate and could create uneasiness among the public.
Yesterday, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang slammed those who condemned the parade and said the criticisms smacked of Islamophobia.
Terengganu PAS Youth had also defended the parade and said it was similar to cosplay events held annually, adding that it was never intended to incite violence.
