The Segambut Bersatu deputy chief pleaded not guilty at the sessions court here today after the charges were read to him before judge Rozilah Salleh.
Adam Radlan is accused of accepting a RM2 million bribe through the bank account of Bayu Bumiraya Sdn Bhd, in which he is a director, from Lian Tan Chuan.
The bribe is said to be a kickback for him to help Nepturis Sdn Bhd obtain the contract to build the Klang Utara police headquarters from Putrajaya, a project worth RM141 million.
The offence allegedly took place between April 2022 and January 2023 at the Jalan Universiti CIMB Bank branch in Petaling Jaya.
Adam Radlan is also accused of accepting another RM2.1 million bribe through Bayu Bumiraya’s accounts from Mat Jusoh Mamat, managing director of MIE Infrastructure & Energy Sdn Bhd, to help the firm obtain a road project in Perlis worth RM47.8 million.
The offence allegedly took place between November 2021 and December 2022 at the same CIMB branch.
Both charges were framed under Section 16(a)(A) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act and are punishable under Section 24(1) of the same Act.
If convicted, Adam Radlan could face up to 20 years in jail or a fine of not less than RM10,000.
Rozilah allowed Adam Radlan to post bail of RM600,000 in two sureties.
He was also ordered to surrender his passport to the court and report to MACC twice a month until his trial begins.
Rozilah set April 14 for case mention.
Deputy public prosecutors Allan Suman Pillai and Maziah Mohaide prosecuted, while Adam Radlan was represented by Rajan Navaratnam, Roshan Selvaratnam and Tay Yi Kuan.
Yesterday, Adam Radlan pleaded not guilty to soliciting and accepting a bribe of RM500,000 in relation to Jana Wibawa for a RM47.8 million road project in Perlis. The project was awarded by Putrajaya through direct negotiation.
He is said to have solicited the money from Mat Jusoh.
