Yeoh visited Ramayah at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM, where he is receiving treatment.

During her hour-long visit, she gave him words of encouragement and also thanked the hospital staff for looking after him.

Also present was Noorul Ariffin Abdul Majeed, the chairman of the National Athletes Welfare Foundation (Yakeb). Yakeb donated a mattress protector and adult diapers to Ramayah.

On Wednesday, FMT reported that the ailment has left Ramayah, 67, who played in 13 World Cups, bedridden, with drastic physical changes, and on a diet of porridge.

His brother-in-law, M Ramasamy, made an appeal for funds, saying he was struggling with the medical bills while Ramayah’s savings had dwindled to almost nothing.

FMT, Yakeb and MySportsFlame, a group of former sportswriters, have joined hands to rally public aid for Ramayah.

Donations have been pouring in since his plight was highlighted, with nearly RM50,000 collected.

Professional Golf Association of Malaysia general manager Faridil Atras Othman also said a charity golf event was being planned to raise funds for Ramayah.

Ramayah was Malaysia’s No 1 and a regional force from 1976 to 1997.
