
He said the heads of the respective committees were appointed to monitor and voice out concerns over issues related to the specific ministry they are assigned to.
“Many out there misinterpreted that the heads of the portfolio are PN’s shadow cabinet.
“This assigning of MPs to various portfolios was done to make sure PN can move forward as a team in doing our checks and balances against the government,” he said on Facebook today.
With PN MPs assigned to their respective portfolios, he said, the public can see how they conduct themselves during parliamentary debates and give constructive criticisms towards the government.
“The setting up of these portfolios shows that PN is ready to play the role of an effective opposition,” he said.
Earlier this month, PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin announced the appointments, which were taken as PN’s shadow cabinet by many quarters.
The former prime minister was made the chief of PN MPs, while PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang was named deputy chief.
