However, Mohamad, or popularly known as Tok Mat, said it was up to the RoS to decide on the merits of the reports lodged, Utusan Malaysia reported.
Mohamad said the party’s leadership had provided RoS with all the information it requested regarding the motion, which ensures that Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Mohamad will be returned unopposed in the party polls which must be held by May 19.
“When you have those who are not satisfied, they will lodge reports with the RoS,” the Malay daily quoted Mohamad as saying.
“That is their right, but it is up to the RoS to see whether the reports have merits.”
Mohamad was asked to respond to the complaints lodged by two Umno members who requested the RoS to investigate a possible breach of the party’s constitution.
They claimed the tabling of the motion at the general assembly had breached Article 10 of the party’s constitution.
The pair also insisted that the motion had to be tabled two weeks before the general assembly, or seven days if tabled by Umno’s Supreme Council.
FMT reported that the RoS had given Umno 60 days to provide a detailed explanation about the no-contest motion.
Zahid said Umno had met RoS twice over the matter, during which it was represented by secretary-general Ahmad Maslan and the party’s legal adviser.
