“While Muda is (supporting) the unity government, the meeting only involved parties with three or more MPs, and these are the signatories (of the agreement),” he told reporters after the launch of the World Bank’s latest Malaysia Economic Monitor report.
He added that the signatories of the coalition agreement were Pakatan Harapan (PH), Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Warisan.
At a separate event, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the secretariat meeting was meant for parties that had roles in the government.
PH, BN, GPS and GRS MPs are part of the Cabinet, while Warisan’s Yusof Apdal is a deputy minister.
Anwar, the PH chairman, added that other parties like Muda would be involved in the committees the unity government’s secretariat had formed to ensure a streamlining of policies.
Yesterday, Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi lamented the lack of communication between PH and the party, claiming it was not invited to the unity government’s secretariat meeting.
While maintaining that he was not disappointed, Amir said PH should have informed Muda about the meeting or its outcome.
He added that Muda only found out about what was discussed at the meeting after it was published in the news.
Muda and PH had signed an electoral pact for the 15th general election. The party’s sole MP is its president, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
