State PH chief Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah said the two coalitions have already held discussions on electoral cooperation and the distribution of seats for the polls, which are due after June.
“Meetings to discuss the cooperation and distribution between the leaders started last month. However, it had to be postponed because of the Umno general assembly.
“We will meet again for a final decision before submitting it to the central leadership,” he told reporters after a Chinese New Year event in Kuala Terengganu.
According to Berita Harian, Raja Kamarul, who is state Amanah chairman, said the decision to give BN the greatest number of seats was also agreed upon by other PH component parties PKR and DAP.
He said they acknowledged that Umno had been in the state for a much longer period and therefore was more influential.
“The number of seats each party gets is not important but the priority is for PH and BN to combine to win as many seats as possible.”
Raja Kamarul said elections in Terengganu have always been a close affair and therefore close cooperation between the two coalitions is needed to win the state.
