Bersatu ready to accept sacked, suspended Umno leaders

Its information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan is confident the affected Umno leaders will make wise decisions on their future.

Wan Saiful Wan Jan declined to comment when asked if any of the suspended or sacked Umno leaders had expressed their desire to join Bersatu.
PETALING JAYA:
Bersatu is always open to accepting any individual, including former Umno leaders who had been sacked or suspended, said party information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan.

“If they choose Bersatu, Alhamdulillah (thank God),” he told FMT when contacted regarding the dismissal and suspension of several Umno leaders yesterday.

Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and former Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar were sacked last night for breaching party discipline during the 15th general election.

The party also suspended its former vice-president and Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein, former information chief Shahril Hamdan, Maulizan Bujang and Salim Sharif for six years.

Five Umno members from Pasir Gudang, nine from Putrajaya, two from Tanjong Karang and 26 from Pahang were also sacked.

Wan Saiful declined to comment when asked if any of them had expressed their desire to join Bersatu.

He was confident the leaders who had been sacked or suspended would make wise decisions based on their own political direction.

“They are seniors in the world of politics and definitely have their own views,” said Wan Saiful, who is also Tasek Gelugor MP.
