
The others are former Industrial Court chairman M Sumathi and lawyers Suzana Said, Evawani Farisyta Mohamad and Wendy Ooi.
The five women received their appointment letters from Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat and took their oath of office before Chief Judge of Malaya Zabidin Diah as all of them will be posted to courts in the peninsula.
They will be under probation for two years before the Judicial Appointments Commission evaluates their performance for elevation as High Court judges.
With the inclusion of the five, there are now 35 judicial commissioners serving in Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak.
Meanwhile, 18 Federal Court, Court of Appeal (CoA) and High Court judges took their oath of office before their superiors.
Federal Court judge Nordin Hassan took his oath before Tengku Maimun.
CoA judges Azman Abdullah, Azimah Omar, Lim Chong Fong, Collin Lawrence Sequerah, Zaini Mazlan and Wong Kian Kheong took theirs before CoA president Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim.
Ten High Court judges – Norsharidah Awang, Tee Geok Hock, Alice Loke, Azhar Abdul Hamid, Arik Sanusi Yeop Johari, G Bhupindar Singh, Mahazan Mat Taib, Ahmad Murad Abdul Aziz, Liza Chan and Wan Amin Wan Yahya took their oaths before Zabidin.
Meanwhile (High Court judge) Zaleha Rose Pandin, who is serving in Kuching, took her oath before Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Abdul Rahman Sebli.
Abang Iskandar, the first East Malaysian to be made CoA president, took his oath before Justice Yaacob Sam, the most senior judge in that court (CoA), as required by tradition.
Zabidin took his oath before Justice Abdul Halim Aman while Rahman took his before Justice Azahari Kamal Ramli.
Present at the event were Attorney-General Idrus Harun and deputy minister of law Ramkarpal Singh.
Earlier in the day, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, presented letters of appointment to 21 judges in a ceremony at Istana Negara.
