“Trains are stopping longer between the Damai and Setiawangsa stations due to a switch malfunction,” it said in a tweet.

“For any assistance, commuters can refer to the RapidKL staff at the station or the auxiliary police.”

This is the second time in less than two weeks that the Kelana Jaya line has experienced a switch malfunction.

On Jan 5, a switch malfunction led to trains stopping for longer periods between the Universiti and KL Sentral stations heading towards Gombak.

Last month, transport minister Loke Siew Fook told commuters to expect disruptions on the Kelana Jaya line in the coming months, all the way to the third quarter of this year.

Loke said there were 56 LRT train sets operating on the Kelana Jaya line, of which 18 were under maintenance, meaning that only 38 were in use.

He added that this was the reason for the train frequency being at five minutes in recent months, even during peak hours.
