Bung, BN reps now in opposition bloc in Sabah assembly

Six BN assemblymen remain on the government side.

Lamag assemblyman Bung Moktar Radin is in the front row of the opposition bloc, joining Warisan and KDM.
KOTA KINABALU:
The Sabah state assembly saw changes to its seating arrangements during its special sitting today, with most Barisan Nasional (BN) elected representatives now seated in the opposition bloc.

State Umno chief and Lamag assemblyman Bung Moktar Radin now sits in the opposition bloc, joining Warisan and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM).

He remains a deputy chief minister despite the failed coup attempt to topple Hajiji Noor as chief minister.

However, none of the opposition assemblymen attended the special sitting. Bung had said the Umno elected representatives needed to be in Kuala Lumpur for the party’s annual general assembly, which starts tomorrow.

According to Malay Mail Online, only Usukan assemblyman Salleh Said Keruak had applied for a leave of absence.

Meanwhile, the five Umno assemblymen who refused to withdraw support for Hajiji were in attendance and remained in the government bloc.

The five are Shahelmey Yahya (Tanjung Keramat), Jasni Daya (Pantai Dalit), James Ratib (Sugut), Yusof Yacob (Sindumin) and Arsad Bistari (Tempasuk).

Umno’s Tanjung Batu assemblyman Andi Suryady Bandy also attended the sitting and was in the government bloc.

The state assembly unanimously passed the Gas Supply Bill 2023 and Energy Commission Bill 2023 earlier.
