PETALING JAYA:
About 30 car owners are up in arms after being slapped with RM1,000 compound fines by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) for parking offences today.

They said there were no signs barring them from doing so.

Most of them involved parents who had come to extend support to their children at a taekwondo competition held at a multipurpose hall at Taman Eng Ann in Klang.

According to Harian Metro, they had parked their vehicles on a field near the hall.

One of the parents, identified as Nantharajan, 43, expressed shock after seeing the amount printed on the compound notice.

“The amount doesn’t make sense. This is a residential area and many of us came from various schools in the district to see our children perform.

“There’s also no notice that prohibits us from parking our cars here,” he said.

Another parent, identified as Hafiz, 37, said he was furious with MPK.

“I hope they will be considerate and withdraw these tickets. RM1,000 is not a small amount. So many cars were booked,” he said.

FMT is reaching out to MPK for comment.

Klang MP V Ganabatirau, when contacted, said he would seek an explanation from the council over the matter.
