Zuraida, Redzuan named as Muafakat Nasional deputy presidents

The NGO’s president, Annuar Musa, announced the appointments after its first meeting today.

Zuraida Kamaruddin is the former plantation industries and commodities minister while Redzuan Yusof previously served as entrepreneur development minister.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Former ministers Zuraida Kamaruddin and Redzuan Yusof have been named deputy presidents of Muafakat Nasional, a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

Annuar Musa, who is the president of the NGO,  revealed this today, adding that preacher Ridhuan Tee Abdullah and former deputy minister Edmund Santhara Kumar have also been appointed as deputy presidents.

He made the announcement after the NGO’s first meeting here.

Zuraida, who is the former plantation industries and commodities minister and Ampang MP, was recently sacked from Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) for failing to respond to a show cause letter issued to her.

Redzuan, who is a Bersatu Supreme Council member, is a former entrepreneur development minister. He was also a one-term Alor Gajah MP.

Annuar said the NGO will establish six groups internally with the aim of addressing the various needs of the country and the people.

These six groups will focus on issues pertaining to the economy, social and welfare, education, politics and leadership, youth and graduates, as well as social media and arts.

The NGO was founded by Annuar, a former Umno stalwart. Last month, an aide to Annuar sought to clarify that Muafakat Nasional was not a political party but was registered as an NGO with the Registrar of Societies (RoS).

Annuar said that Muafakat Nasional did not intend to become a political party, adding that as an NGO, it will remain open and “friendly” to all.

“We already have too many political parties. There is a lot we can achieve and contribute without becoming a political party,” he said.
