While chief minister Hajiji Noor was seen entering the palace presumably for an audience with the governor to submit the statutory declarations (SDs) in support of him, it is not clear if other political parties with representatives in the state assembly have been asked to do so.
“GRS representatives have been asked to present their SDs to the governor to state who they support to be the chief minister,” a GRS source told FMT.
It is unclear whether BN and Warisan assemblymen have received the same request from the palace as both parties have so far maintained their silence on the matter.
Earlier today, state palace communications secretary Abdul Rashid Tahir said it will soon call the assemblymen to state their stand on the matter.
Earlier, without indicating if they had enough support from the assemblymen to form the government, Sabah BN chief Bung Moktar Radin and Warisan president Shafie Apdal called on Hajiji to resign claiming he had lost his majority.
However, Hajiji’s team rebutted the claim saying that Bung and Shafie did not understand the law, adding that they had only selected the parts that fit their narrative while ignoring the other details in the legislation.
