
In a statement, it said this was a precautionary measure to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the state, due to the new variants from China.
However, it did not say when the mask mandate would take effect.
“The public is also encouraged to wear a face mask while in public or in crowded areas.
“They are also encouraged to wash and sanitise their hands regularly.”
In December, the Selangor state government announced that from Jan 1, workers at food and beverage (F&B) outlets in Selangor were required to wear masks.
Failure to do so will result in a fine and will make it difficult to obtain a business licence.
The wearing of a face mask is still compulsory on public transport like buses, trains, flights, taxis, e-hailing vehicles, as well as at hospitals and medical institutions.
Owners of premises such as shopping malls, shops or restaurants may still enforce rules requiring visitors to wear masks.
