Tengku Zafrul, who was the finance minister in the Muhyiddin Yassin-led administration, said the funds utilised in several economic stimulus packages introduced at the time had been managed transparently.

“There was nothing amiss (in the management of funds), but I’m ready to cooperate if summoned by the relevant agencies. We were very transparent,” he said, according to Astro Awani.

“As I’ve said, we had weekly reports (called Laksana). These reports were handed to the media. Even members of the public could get a hold of them,” he said.

Tengku Zafrul said to date, no investigating agency has asked for his statement on allegations of misappropriation of funds by the previous PN government.

Previously, he had said he was ready to assist the authorities in any probe into the matter, adding that he had “nothing to hide”.

Last month, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission said its probe into the alleged misappropriation of funds by the PN-led government was focused on the RM92.5 billion spent on Covid-19 management measures.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim previously said the finance ministry had acknowledged several breaches involving the funds.
