Couple remanded over explosion that killed man in KL

PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a couple over an explosion which killed a 28-year-old waiter in Pandan Indah, Kuala Lumpur, last week.

Acting Selangor police chief Sasikala Devi said a man and his wife were arrested at a house in Kedah last night and have been remanded for seven days.

In a statement, she said Selangor police’s criminal investigation department arrested the couple, who are in their 30s, after a tipoff.

“We believe that these arrests can help us in our investigation.”

In last Thursday’s incident, the victim was believed to have found and handled a package that was left on top of the bonnet of his car.

The package was believed to have exploded.

Police found traces of explosive compounds at the scene.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Farouk Eshak said the man suffered severe injuries to his body and hands. He was taken to Ampang Hospital by members of the public but was pronounced dead at about 9.45pm.
