Number of flood victims rises in Sarawak, drops in Kelantan and Sabah

PETALING JAYA:
The number of flood victims in Kelantan and Sabah has dropped but has risen slightly in Sarawak.

The number of victims in Terengganu and Perak remains the same, according to Bernama.

In coastal Sabah, the number of victims from water settlements who have been placed at temporary evacuation centres following high tides dropped from 1,506 to 1,454.

The number of evacuees in Kota Belud dipped from 139 to 135.

In Sarawak, one temporary evacuation centre was opened yesterday at Dewan Masyarakat Kampung Lutong in Sebuyau, following continuous rainfall since Friday.

This brings the number of evacuation centres in the state to two, with 91 victims recorded as of 7pm yesterday.

The number of victims in Kelantan dropped to 1,235 from 428 families compared with 1,511 from 515 families previously.

In a statement, the Kelantan disaster management committee secretariat said the victims have been placed at five evacuation centres in Pasir Mas and Tumpat.

Meanwhile, the number of victims remains at 138 in Terengganu, and 62 in Perak.
