PETALING JAYA:
Phase 2 of the Putrajaya MRT Line will be fully operational from March, says Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp).

In a statement, MRT Corp said the construction of the line from the Kampung Batu station to Putrajaya Sentral has been completed.

“The 38.7km-long section of the Phase 2 alignment, which consists of 15 elevated stations and nine underground stations, is expected to be operational in March 2023,” it said.

Phase 1 of the Putrajaya MRT Line, which features 11 elevated stations from Kwasa Damansara to Kampung Batu, began operating from June 16.

When Phase 2 is fully operational, passengers will be able to transfer to other existing rail lines at 10 different interchange stations.

The interchanges are Kwasa Damansara (with Kajang MRT Line), Sungai Buloh (KTM), Sri Damansara Timur (KTM), Kampung Batu (KTM), Titiwangsa (Ampang and Sri Petaling LRT Lines, KL Monorail), Ampang Park (Kelana Jaya LRT Line), Tun Razak Exchange (Kajang MRT Line), Chan Sow Lin (Ampang and Sri Petaling LRT Lines), Sungai Besi (Sri Petaling LRT Line) and Putrajaya Sentral (ERL and KLIA Transit Lines).

Meanwhile, MRT Corp said that a total of 5,870 parking bays are provided at the 15 stations along the line.

The Putrajaya MRT Line had previously been slated for operation in August 2021 but was postponed to mid-November the same year and later faced further delays.

Upon completion, the MRT Putrajaya Line will cover a span of 57.7km, with 36 stations from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya.
