KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah wildlife department has urged people to exercise caution when visiting the Tanjung Lipat beach, after a crocodile was spotted in the area.
Confirming the sighting from a viral video, department director Augustine Tuuga said wildlife officers are actively searching for the reptile but have yet to find it.
“Our officers will shoot the crocodile if we find it, but we have not been able to locate it since yesterday.
“We advise the public to be careful when visiting the beach. If possible, avoid any activities in the area until the crocodile has been killed,” he said.
The Tanjung Lipat beach is a popular spot for recreational activities and picnics, often bustling with visitors during the weekends.
