KUALA LUMPUR:
Police have arrested a man on suspicion of threatening to attack a food deliveryman and his foster mother with a folding knife and a sword.

Ampang police chief Farouk Eshak said the 48-year-old suspect was detained after he surrendered at the Taman Melawati police station at 1.30pm yesterday.

He said the 22-year-old victim and his foster mother were approached by the suspect on Nov 25 when they were at a petrol station in Taman Melawati.

He pointed the folding knife and a 52cm-long sword at the pair. The man also threatened to slash the woman’s neck. However, neither of them suffered any injuries, Farouk said.

He said the initial investigation found that the incident was due to a misunderstanding between the victims and suspect about the price of a drink.
