PETALING JAYA:
Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) five assemblymen will remain in the opposition in the Melaka state assembly, despite the cooperation between PH and Barisan Nasional at the federal level, chief minister Sulaiman Md Ali said.

According to Utusan Malaysia, Sulaiman said the PH assemblymen will continue to be part of the opposition when the state assembly reconvenes on Dec 12.

“The state government’s status quo will remain intact and PH’s role in the opposition bloc will be unaffected for the December session, despite the formation of a unity government at the federal level,” he was quoted as saying.

BN formed the Melaka government after it won 21 seats in the state election in November last year. The five PH assemblymen and another two from Perikatan Nasional form the opposition in the 28-seat state assembly.

Sulaiman also said all the assemblymen, regardless of which party they came from, would be provided with assistance and allocations to resolve local issues in their constituencies.
