Liu, of Pakatan Harapan, admitted that the project was approved during the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) administration, not when Barisan Nasional was the state government.
“I would like to apologise to the opposition leader over what happened in the previous session when he brought up the PKPS issue since it involved the beaches under his constituency, Sungai Ayer Tawar.
“I claimed that the project had not been approved by the PH government, but after checking further, I discovered that it had been (approved by PR),” the DAP man told the assembly today.
Previously, Rizam (BN-Sungai Ayer Tawar) had questioned whether the state government had taken any steps to preserve mangrove plants at Kampung Dato Hormat in Sungai Ayer Tawar following the setting up of a large-scale oil palm plantation project in the area in 2008.
Former state executive councillor Elizabeth Wong (PH-Bukit Lanjan) had denied that approval to chop down the mangrove plants was granted after PR came to power in Selangor.
The state assembly then descended into chaos, with PH and BN assemblymen hurling accusations against each other over the project.
