PM Anwar assumes duty in Putrajaya

The newly appointed prime minister was escorted from his house in Sungai Long to the administrative capital by police outriders.

PUTRAJAYA:
Anwar Ibrahim has started his first day on the job as the nation’s 10th prime minister.

He arrived at the Prime Minister’s Office at the main block of Bangunan Perdana Putra at about 9.55am and was received by chief secretary to the government Zuki Ali, Bernama reported.

Donning a pink baju Melayu, Anwar had left his residence in Sungai Long, Kajang, at about 9.30am accompanied by police escorts.

His wife, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, saw him to the door.

Anwar waved to reporters, telling them he is starting work today.

Yesterday, he took his oath as the prime minister before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.
