Other rulers are also expected to arrive for a special meeting with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, over the impasse in the formation of a new government.
The meeting is slated to begin at 10.30am.
It is understood that the sultan of Kelantan will not be attending the meeting.
The Malay rulers’ meeting came after no single coalition received a simple majority to form the government in the general election last Saturday.
Previously, Barisan Nasional, which had only won 30 seats, said it would remain in the opposition instead of forming the government with Pakatan Harapan or Perikatan Nasional.
Subsequently, the King proposed that PH and PN jointly form a unity government, but PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said he turned this down. He insisted that PN would not work with PH.
Late last night, Umno’s Supreme Council said it will be part of a unity government that is not led by PN.
