KUANTAN: Three children were orphaned when their parents and their baby brother were killed in an accident on the East Coast Expressway, near Kampung Paya Bungor here today.
Kuantan police chief Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said contractor Mohamad Shafiq Zailani, 33, and his wife, Faeiznoor Mansor, 32, died at the scene. Their 10-month-old son Daryan Marwa was pronounced dead at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here.
The three other children, Mohamad Danish Uqasha, 9, Dhia Medina, 5, and Damiaa Melissa, 2, sustained minor injuries.
Shafiq was driving a four-wheel drive vehicle from Bandar Jengka in Maran to Kuantan. “The accident is believed to have occurred when the car skidded and hit a tree at the road shoulder, Wan Mohd Zahari said.
