Kota Tinggi district police chief Hussin Zamora said the couple was on their way to vote when the accident happened.
He said the accident, involving the car and a four-wheel drive vehicle, occurred at 12.08pm.
“Initial investigations found that the driver of the car, aged 37, was heading to vote in Skudai.
“While taking a bend, the car skidded in the opposite direction (towards Mersing) and collided head-on with the other vehicle,” he said in a statement today.
Due to the collision, the man and his 31-year-old wife died at the scene. Their daughter, who suffered a broken leg, was taken to Kota Tinggi Hospital for treatment.
The 60-year-old driver of the four-wheel-drive vehicle escaped unhurt.
