2 electrocuted while repairing street lights

The Sabah fire and rescue department says another man was involved in the incident but survived.

KOTA KINABALU:
Two men, believed to be contractors, died after they were electrocuted while repairing street lights near the Bukit Melinsung apartment in Papar today.

A Sabah fire and rescue department operations centre spokesman said they received a call at 8.25am and firefighters from the Papar fire and rescue station were dispatched to the scene.

“It was found that three victims were involved in the incident. One survived while the other two were confirmed dead by health ministry personnel.

“The firefighters removed the victims after the electricity supply was cut off by Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd,” he said.

The spokesman said the dead were identified as Abdul Rauf Manda, 61, and Asnan Ab Wahid, 54. Albrayan Binga, 27, survived the incident,
