PETALING JAYA: The Wanita Umno chiefs for Arau and Maran have been suspended by the party for helping other candidates with their campaign in the general election (GE15).
In a statement, Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan said Shamsiah Yasin (Arau) and Fatimah Kassim (Maran) were suspended indefinitely following confirmed reports about their actions.
He said the party’s disciplinary board will continue to monitor the actions of Umno members throughout the GE15 campaign period.
“This is to ensure there are no efforts to sabotage the party and its candidates.”
BN dropped its former Arau and Maran MPs, Shahidan Kassim and Ismail Abd Muttalib from its GE15 lineup. The duo are contesting their seats on a Perikatan Nasional ticket.
