
PETALING JAYA: A man has been arrested after a tent near the MIC operations room in Taman Mutiara, Batu Pahat, Johor was set on fire last night.
According to Bernama, Johor police spokesman Ibrahim Mat Som said the 28-year-old was arrested at the scene of the incident and was believed to be intoxicated when detained.
The Batu Pahat police headquarters had received a report on the matter at about 10.37pm. The cops will apply to remand the suspect today.
“The case is being investigated under Section 436 of the Penal Code for committing mischief, which is punishable by 20 years’ jail and a fine if convicted,” he said in a statement.
He advised members of the public to be civil and rational amid campaigning for the general election.
