PETALING JAYA:
Police have initiated an investigation into a PAS leader’s remark that voters would “go to hell” if they voted for Barisan Nasional (BN) or Pakatan Harapan (PH) instead of Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the general election.

The matter is being probed under Section 504 of the Penal Code which involves intentional insult to cause provocation and disrupt public peace, China Press reported.

Bukit Aman’s GE15 operations director Hazani Ghazali said no one has been arrested so far.

Sik PAS Youth chief Shahiful Nasir has apologised over his remarks made in a ceramah, admitting he made a mistake and that his statement had offended many.

However, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said he will be filing a report against the PAS man to remind leaders in the Islamic party not to use religion for political purposes.

Meanwhile, Hazani said a man was assaulted with a metal object after he wanted to lodge a police report against certain people for taking down PH flags.

He said the man managed to escape while a suspect was arrested.

He added that the cops have opened 15 new investigation papers to probe allegations of election offences on the campaign trail. There are a total of 120 probes ongoing.

The case involving Shahfiul was one of five the cops are investigating in Kedah.
