Selangor fire and rescue department director Norazam Khamis said they received a call at 5.50pm and personnel from the Sungai Pinang and Andalas fire and rescue stations reached the location at 7.30pm.
“According to the preliminary report, the water level had risen to 0.6m and five victims were rescued by a volunteer firefighting team. Three senior citizens were rescued by firemen,” he said in a statement today.
He said all the victims have been placed at the temporary evacuation centre in SK Johan Setia.
In a later report, Norazam said about 200 houses were affected by the floods that hit the village, but the water had started to recede.
He said 30 people from eight houses had so far been relocated to the temporary relief centre.
