Akbal Singh, 59, and his 18-year-old son, Sachdeep Singh, came all the way from Lembah Pantai to show their support for PH candidate R Ramanan.
Initially, the duo had planned to show up at the nomination centre in Lembah Pantai to support PH’s Fahmi Fadzil but changed their plans when Barisan Nasional (BN) named Khairy Jamaluddin as its candidate for Sungai Buloh.
“It’s going to be a fierce battle with Khairy as a contender here,” Akbal told FMT.
Akbal and Sachdeep arrived in Sungai Buloh at 7am, joining some 300 PH supporters who were led by the constituency’s former MP R Sivarasa.
The duo excitedly waved PH flags to passers-by who cheered them on.
Akbal said his sister took five days to make the costumes which cost them RM1,300.
“I have been doing this (campaigning) for almost 25 years. So my family is not surprised. This is the first time my son is joining me.”
The battle for Sungai Buloh will see a seven-cornered fight involving Khairy, Ramanan, Akmal Yusoff (Pejuang), Razali Mat Hamin (Perikatan Nasional), Jufriz Faizal (Parti Rakyat Malaysia), and independent candidates Syed Abdul Razak Syed Long Alsagoff and Norhaslinda Basri.
