PETALING JAYA:
Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar has hinted that the saga over his candidacy in the Tanjong Karang parliamentary seat may not be over.

At a press conference, the former Tanjong Karang MP said whether or not he would remain loyal to Barisan Nasional would be revealed tomorrow at the nomination centre for the seat.

“Wait for tomorrow in Tanjong Karang. Whoever’s interested, please come,” he told reporters when asked if he was sticking to BN after being dropped as the coalition’s candidate for the seat.

Yesterday, BN secretary-general Zambry Abd Kadir said the Tanjong Karang seat would be contested by Habibah Yusof.

Noh said before BN had announced its candidates for the polls, he had submitted a memorandum to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamid. It was signed by numerous Umno division and branch chiefs, backing his nomination.

He said Zahid then informed him that the candidate for the seat would not be announced that Tuesday night and that he would call him after sorting out the matter after a day or two.

However, he said attempts to contact Zahid later over the matter failed.

Noh admitted that he was disappointed with Zahid, but acknowledged that the BN chairman might have been busy.
