
The state disaster management secretariat said the evacuees, from 301 families, are seeking shelter at 11 relief centres in five districts.
It said Tenom, in the interior of the state, was the most affected, with 396 victims from 125 families evacuated to five relief centres.
In Keningau, 327 people from 120 families were evacuated to two relief centres; in Sipitang, 129 victims from 43 families were also evacuated to two relief centres; and there are 71 victims from 13 families at two centres in Kunak.
“The weather is good in most areas in Sabah this morning,” the secretariat said in a statement today.
However, according to the meteorological department, thunderstorms are expected in one or two places, especially in the interior, in the afternoon and night.
Meanwhile, the Sabah public works department said a bridge at Jalan Amboi Satu in Tenom had suffered serious damage and is closed to all types of vehicles.
“Road users can use alternative routes on Jalan Tenom-Kuala Tomani, Jalan Amboi 2 and Jalan Cinta Mata,” it said.
The Sabah railway department said the Beaufort-Halogilat-Beaufort route is closed because of flooding in the Jimpangah Km98.6 area, and services will resume when the water recedes.
The Tenom-Halogilat-Tenom route is also closed following a landslide at Km130-137 and repair work is being carried out.
