Nancy Shukri likely to stand in Santubong

The PBB Wanita vice-chief will replace Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar who has decided to step down.

A source said Nancy Shukri would likely be contesting the Santubong parliamentary seat.
KUCHING:
Nancy Shukri is poised to be the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for Santubong after a “leaked” election poster of her standing in the P193 parliamentary constituency went viral yesterday.

The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Wanita vice-chief and three-term Batang Sadong MP replaces four-term MP Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar who has decided to step down.

Wan Junaidi had recommended that his political secretary Syed Hamzah Syed Paie succeed him as the candidate for Santubong in the 15th general election.

GPS, however, appears to have opted for the 61-year-old Nancy instead.

Her candidacy will be made official when GPS chairman Abang Johari Openg releases its list of candidates tomorrow for the 31 parliamentary seats.

Wan Junaidi was the MP for Batang Lupar for three terms from 1990 to 2000 before moving to Santubong in 2004.
