BANGI:
Former inspector-general of police Abdul Hamid Bador will not contest the coming polls, says Pejuang chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“He will not contest because he’s not ready,” Mahathir told reporters after announcing the Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) candidates here.

It was previously reported that Hamid would contest in Rembau, which would have seen him go up against Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan.

Pejuang president Mukhriz Mahathir previously said that Hamid would be a “giant killer” if he stood in the election.

Hamid served as the 12th IGP from May 2019 and retired in May 2021.

He is originally from Rembau and has a farm in his hometown.
