The education minister’s candidacy was announced at a Perikatan Nasional event here.
Former federal territories minister and Umno treasurer-general Tengku Adnan Mansor has held the Putrajaya seat since the 2004 general election, a year after the federal constituency was created.
Radzi contested the Ketereh seat in Kelantan in the 2018 general election and garnered 6,799 votes. Umno’s Annuar Musa won the seat with 25,467 votes after securing a 4,626-vote majority over PAS’ Wan Ismail Wan Jusoh.
Also present at the event were PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin and Bersatu Supreme Council member Azmin Ali.
Muhyiddin brushed off accusations by Pakatan Harapan that he had betrayed voters in reference to the Sheraton Move, which led to the fall of the PH administration in 2020.
“They can say that, but I will never betray my race and nation.”
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that Muhyiddin announced “Prihatin, Bersih dan Stabil” (“Caring, Clean and Stable”) as PN’s GE15 slogan.
He shouted “PN Best!” to supporters gathered at the event.
“This is our tagline during GE15 and ‘PN Best’ is our hope,” he said.
PN has Bersatu, PAS, Gerakan, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) as members.
The Election Commission has fixed Nov 19 as polling day, Nov 5 for nominations while early voting will take place on Nov 15.
