6 on board crashed chopper found alive, say cops

Four of them suffered injuries and have been taken to the nearest hospital in Cameron Highlands for treatment.

The six people on board the helicopter that crashed in Cameron Highlands have been found safe, says Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri.

Yusri told FMT that some of them suffered injuries and would be taken to the nearest hospital in Cameron Highlands for treatment.

He added that the six victims were found near the site of the crash.

Earlier, it was reported that the six people on board the helicopter were the pilot, a doctor and four medical staff.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), four of the victims suffered injuries while the fire and rescue department said the pilot escaped unharmed.

Earlier, CAAM said it was notified of the incident involving the Airbus AS 355 F2 helicopter at 1.03pm. The crash occurred near Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands.

The aircraft operated by Layang Layang Aerospace Sdn Bhd was headed to Tanjung Rambutan, Perak, from Kampung Gawin, Gua Musang, Kelantan.

CAAM CEO Chester Voo said a safety investigation would be conducted by the air accident investigation bureau under the transport ministry.
