2 more charged over Palestinian’s abduction

This brings to 13 the number of Malaysians charged with abducting a Palestinian last month.

No plea was recorded from two men charged with kidnapping a Palestinian as the case will be heard in the High Court.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Two more men have been charged at the magistrates’ court here with kidnapping a Palestinian last month.

The accused were identified as Mohd Zaidi Zain, 54, and Tengku Hazarul Ismail Tengku Hamid, 49.

The duo was charged before magistrate Wong Chai Sia but no plea was recorded as the case will be heard in the High Court.

This follows similar charges against 11 people two weeks ago. They had been jointly accused of kidnapping the Palestinian man at Jalan Mayang here on Sept 28 to get him to deactivate a computer software and hack into mobile phones.

Mohd Zaidi and Tengku Hazarul allegedly committed the act at Jalan Mayang at 10.40pm on Sept 28.

They were charged under Section 3 of the Kidnapping Act 1961, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which provides for the death penalty or life imprisonment and whipping.

The court did not allow bail.

Kamarul Aris Kamalludin and Fatin Hanum Abdul Hadi prosecuted, while the pair were not represented.

Police arrested 18 people at various locations in the Klang Valley in connection with the abduction. The cops reportedly rescued the Palestinian victim a day after he was abducted.

Subsequently, it was reported that the kidnappers were recruited by Israeli intelligence agency Mossad to kidnap the victim, who was said to be linked to the Palestinian organisation Hamas. Police have yet to confirm or deny this claim.
