
He said the candidates had passed the screening at the party level, and the final decision would be made by the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership.
“Hopefully (these candidates) will be accepted by the BN leadership. It (the decision) will be announced by the BN chairman,” he told reporters at the state-level Deepavali celebration here. Also present was Perak menteri besar Saarani Mohamad.
Asked whether there will be additional seats for MIC, Vigneswaran said the party had submitted its request to the BN leadership.
“We requested to contest winnable seats so that money will not be wasted. We also want to ensure victory in all the traditional seats,” he said.
On Oct 10, MIC announced that about 70% of its candidates for GE15 will be new faces, with priority given to party leaders.
