Man nabbed for allegedly throwing cats out of 15th floor unit

PETALING JAYA:
A 44-year-old man was arrested yesterday for allegedly killing three cats after throwing them from a 15th floor apartment here.

Petaling Jaya police chief Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid said the man was arrested after the cops received a report on Monday about the alleged incident at an apartment on Jalan PJS 8/9.

“The police found three dead cats with him,” said Fakhruddin in a statement.

“The suspect admitted to throwing the cats from his apartment which is located on the 15th floor.”

The man, who was renting the unit, has been remanded for four days.

The case is being investigated under Section 428 of the Penal Code for mischief by killing or maiming an animal.

If found guilty, he could be imprisoned for up to three years, handed a fine, or both. The quantum of the fine is at the judge’s discretion.
