
“I came to Tasek Gelugor because this seat is our (BN’s) seat, and it was stolen from us,” he said at an event in the constituency today.
“That is why I want to make sure that this seat returns to us in GE15. And looking at the crowd here today, I am confident Tasek Gelugor will be ours again.”
BN won the seat in the last elections in 2018, but Shabudin left Umno for Bersatu a year later.
Ismail also disputed claims that the RM95 billion development expenditure under Budget 2023 would only benefit tycoons, saying RM2.55 billion was allocated for rural development and infrastructure.
“Who will benefit from this budget? It is the G1 and G2 contractors, not tycoons,” he said.
He said he could not yet approve the funds allocated under the budget that was tabled before the dissolution of Parliament. However, he could do so if he was given the opportunity to form the new government after GE15.
“The power is in your (voters’) hands,” he said.
