KUALA LUMPUR:
Police have smashed two drug labs and confiscated RM2.8 million worth of drugs and equipment after raiding two condominium units on Tuesday.

Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Yahaya Othman said that in the first raid, police arrested five people, including a woman from China, at a condominium in Taman Desa.

They seized 35kg of syabu estimated to be worth about RM1.3 million.

Yahaya said three of the suspects had previous records for drug-related offences.

In the second raid held at a condominium in Wangsa Maju at the same time, police arrested two people and seized drugs worth RM1.5 million.

They confiscated 58kg of magic mushrooms, 17.7kg of ganja, 23 bottles of drug-laced vape liquids, and drug processing equipment, including 2.9kg of powder and 27.8 litres of liquid used for processing.

Yahaya said the suspects bought the mushrooms online from overseas and processed them at home before selling them on the dark web for local consumption.

“Customers from the Klang Valley got the mushrooms straight from the suspects while those outside the Klang Valley received the drugs via courier,” he told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.

Yahaya said the second syndicate was believed to have been operating for about three months.

All the suspects have been remanded for seven days.
