KAJANG:
A construction site supervisor was charged in two separate magistrates’ courts here for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a 27-year-old woman last month.

No pleas were recorded from Lai Jai Loon, 27, as only the High Court has jurisdiction to hear and try cases which carry the death penalty upon conviction.

Lai was first charged before magistrate Syahrul Sazly Md Zain with murdering Ho Mei Ling at a road shoulder in Bukit Tekali here between 3.50pm on Sept 25 and 3pm on Sept 27.

Before another magistrate, Noor Firdaus Rosli, the accused was charged with kidnapping Ho to get a RM40,000 ransom. The offence was allegedly committed in front of a house at Taman Kenari in Lenggeng, Negeri Sembilan, about 3.50pm on Sept 25.

Lai was unrepresented.

Both cases are up for mention on Nov 17.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Yusoff, in a statement on Sept 30, said the victim’s remains were found by members of the public.
