Allow postal voting for East Malaysians in Peninsula, says Warisan

The party's deputy president Darell Leiking says it would be difficult and costly for Sabahans and Sarawakians to fly home to vote.

The Election Commission should side with voters and do the right thing, says Darell Leiking of Warisan.
PETALING JAYA:
Darell Leiking of Warisan has urged the Election Commission to allow Sabahans and Sarawakians in Peninsular Malaysia to register as postal voters for the general election.

Leiking said many East Malaysians would find it difficult and costly to fly home to vote.

They should also be allowed to vote by post for future state elections, he said.

Sabahans and Sarawakians unable to return home to vote should not be deprived of their constitutional rights, he said.

“The EC must side with the voters in this country first and do the right thing by registering all Sabahan and Sarawakian voters (in the Peninsula) to vote by post,” he said.
