PETALING JAYA: The second reading of the proposed anti-stalking bill will be carried out during next month’s Dewan Rakyat meeting, says deputy law minister Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
In a statement, Mas Ermieyati said the bill will be among the earliest to be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat, which will reconvene on Oct 3.
Next year’s federal budget will be tabled on Oct 7.
Mas Ermieyati said the Dewan Rakyat will meet for 32 days from Oct 3 to Nov 29, and the Dewan Negara will convene from Nov 21 to Dec 7, or 11 days in total.
The anti-stalking bill was first tabled in August, involving amendments to the Penal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code.
It is expected to protect victims, especially women, from harassment in an offline or online environment.
