Zuraina Zamri pleaded not guilty before magistrate Redza Azhar Rezali at the magistrates’ court after the charge was read out to her.
Zuraina was charged under Section 182 of the Penal Code with filing the false report at the Taman Sri Muda police station in Section 25, Shah Alam on Sept 21.
If convicted, she faces up to six months in jail, a maximum RM2,000 fine, or both.
Redza set bail at RM2,000 and ordered the accused not to issue any media statements that could disrupt court proceedings. He then set Nov 15 for mention.
Last Friday, police confirmed receiving another report by a former resident of the non-government institution, alleging physical and mental abuse.
Bernama quoted Selangor police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed as saying they were investigating the allegations against the centre, which was previously reported as being a madrasah.
The 20-year-old victim claimed that he and other residents were abused and sexually harrassed while receiving rehabilitation for social and drug abuse problems.
