PETALING JAYA:
The Selangor state flag will be flown at half-mast from Saturday to Monday to honor the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

State secretary Haris Kasim said the order was given as Selangor’s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah shared a good relationship with the Queen.

“In accordance with the order, the state council which met yesterday has ordered all departments and agencies in Selangor to fly the Selangor state flag at half-mast with the consent of the Sultan of Selangor,” he said in a statement.

Queen Elizabeth II, England’s longest-reigning monarch, died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Sept 8.

According to media reports, Queen Elizabeth II’s body is now in London and has been placed in Buckingham Palace until the state funeral ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Sept 19.

Her body will be buried next to her husband Prince Philip.

She was the second longest reigning monarch in European history after King Louis XIV of France.
