
In his update for the week ending Sept 3, Noor Hisham said the number of Covid-19 patients admitted to public hospitals under Category 1 and 2 increased by 3.4% per 100,000 from the preceding week, while Category 3,4 and 5 patients dropped by 3.7%.
Admissions in quarantine centres were down by 15.8%.
Overall bed occupancy for non-critical beds remained unchanged, but intensive care unit (ICU) beds decreased by 1%.
Active cases decreased during the week by 12.2% to 27,503.
“Recoveries dropped by 12.8% from 19,813 to 17,286,” Noor Hisham said.
“The number of deaths decreased by 27.7% from 47 to 34, bringing the cumulative figure for fatalities to 36,277.”
He said a total of 4,803,624 Covid-19 cases had been recorded in the country since January 2020.
